A note from the project which will be coming to speak to GIHS on 10th February:
"I was wondering if I could add this post to your blog about the oral history Project I'm working on?
It's called Working Lives of the Thames Gateway and aims to record and celebrate the lives of people who worked in the traditional industries of East and South-East London. The project is being delivered by Eastside Community Heritage in partnership with the boroughs of Greenwich, Bexley, Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Newham and Tower Hamlets.
We are collecting hundreds of oral history interviews with former workers and bringing their memories alive through exhibitions, publications, youth workshops, films and more.
At the moment, I'm particularly hoping to make contact with people who worked in the food and drink industries. For example, Woolwich Arsenal Co-operative stores.
If anyone would like more information about the Project, I'd be happy to answer any questions, or you can have a look at our website: www.hidden-histories.org.uk
All the best,
Laura Mitchison
